3 Days 2 Nights Cameron Highlands
Cameron Highlands is a perfect getaway for those who wish to retreat into the highlands to enjoy the cool, fresh mountain air and green hills. Named after the British surveyor William Cameron, who discovered the place in 1855, the tea cultivated here is among the best in the country.
Those who wish to enjoy activities can trek through the forest to waterfalls, enjoy tea in quaint English-style teahouses, or take a 4-wheel drive to the top of the mountain for a breathtaking view of the hills. You can also visit the many flower plantations, as exporting flowers is an increasingly important economic activity.
DAY 01: OVERLAND TO CAMERON HIGHLANDS
Depart in the morning to Cameron Highlands, which is located 1,542 meters above sea level. Famed for its tea plantations and cool temperatures, the journey includes a stop at Batu Caves (except during Thaipusam in January), the sacred cave temple for Hindus, a cottage industry of basket weaving, a visit to a native settlement, and Lata Iskandar Waterfall.
Arrive at leisure (between 1600 and 1700 hrs). Overnight.
DAY 02: FULL DAY CAMERON HIGHLANDS
In the morning, proceed for a tour of the highlands covering most of its highlights. The tour starts by cruising through the “green carpet” of the BOH Plantation, the pioneer of tea growers in Malaysia. After a guided tour of the factory, sample various types of tea at the beautifully landscaped teahouse.
After a refreshing tea break, the next visit is to flower and vegetable farms. From there, proceed to visit the villages of the highland natives, the Semai people. Explore the forests of the highlands on a short trek that leads to a small waterfall, where you can enjoy a brief dip and lunch (own arrangement).
The return journey includes a visit to a local day market where most of the local produce can be found.
Overnight.
DAY 03: DEPART FROM CAMERON HIGHLANDS
Morning free at leisure until your departure transfer back to Kuala Lumpur city or the airport.
